QUALITY AND TRACE ABILITY
“Our priority is to guarantee quality to our customers. The
tracking of each batch is our first concern: our numerous suppliers,
small farmers, agricultural or industrial co-op all have their own
characteristics. We want to be able to find and control the characteristics
of each product and erase all risk of fraud, our production is based
mainly on mixing processes”. Before the entrance weighing,
the lorry drives under a control post where a remote controlled arm
takes a grain sample away for quality control. Each vehicle is associated
with a contract, a carrier, eventually a third party, a production
or cereal distribution chain. A contract is associated with a product
and all of the samples taken.
“The risk of errors was enormous. Our handicap was in our
inability to automate the exchange of information between our manual
control
processes and the heart of the system which relies on an Ethernet
network and an IBM/AS400 server.” |
